Blast Freezer Rooms: Fast Freezing Without Damaging Your Product
A blast freezer room quickly lowers a product’s core temperature and helps preserve its freshness. Rapid freezing keeps ice crystals small, so the product suffers less damage and retains its flavor. Frigo System designs, produces, installs and services blast freezer rooms to suit your needs.

What a Well-Built Blast Freezer Room Needs
- Air guidance: The evaporator blows air into a deflector, not directly onto the product, helping preserve freshness.
- Evaporators: Ceiling-hung and floor-mounted options are available.
- Panels: 200 mm panels are recommended for blast freezers at +35 °C outside temperature.
- Doors: Sliding doors for frozen storage and blast freezers have a 120 mm leaf and a heated frame.
- Correct calculation: The cooling load must be calculated for every stage until the core temperature is reached, and the room should not be loaded beyond its design capacity.
Reference Project: Sri Lanka
At our cold storage plant in Sri Lanka, the blast freezing room can freeze 3 tonnes of product to -20 °C in as little as 5 hours. The project used camlock sandwich panels, 3 sliding doors, 4 split cooling units and a remote monitoring system.
