Temperature Ranges and Applications
One panel system covers every application. We change the panel thickness, the refrigeration unit and the door to match your temperature.
| Room type | Temperature | Typical products | Typical panel thickness |
| Cooler (chiller) room | +0°C to +10°C (32–50°F) | Fruit, vegetables, dairy, beverages, flowers | 80–100 mm |
| Freezer room | -18°C to -25°C (0 to -13°F) | Frozen meat, poultry, seafood, ice cream | 120–150 mm |
| Blast freezer room | -30°C to -40°C (-22 to -40°F) | Fast freezing of meat, fish, bakery, ready meals | 150–200 mm |
| Pharma / controlled room | +2°C to +8°C or +15°C to +25°C | Vaccines, medicines, lab materials | 80–100 mm |
| Multi-temperature facility | Mixed | Distribution centers, 3PL, processing plants | Per room |
Note: final panel thickness is confirmed by heat load calculation and local climate.

Popular Cold Room Kit Sizes
We build kits to any dimension in 10 cm (≈4 in) steps. These are the sizes U.S. buyers ask for most often:
| Kit size (ft) | Approx. size (m) | Best for |
| 8 × 10 ft | 2.4 × 3.0 m | Restaurants, cafés, small grocery |
| 10 × 12 ft | 3.0 × 3.7 m | Supermarkets, catering, butcher shops |
| 10 × 20 ft | 3.0 × 6.1 m | Food distributors, farms, florists |
| 20 × 30 ft | 6.1 × 9.1 m | Wholesale, meat and seafood processors |
| 40 × 60 ft and larger | 12 × 18 m + | Pallet storage, cold storage warehouses, 3PL |
Standard internal height is 8–10 ft for walk-ins. For pallet racking we build up to 40 ft (12 m) and more.
Why Buy a Cold Room Kit Factory-Direct?
- Lower cost per square foot.
You buy from the manufacturer, with no distributor or dealer margin in between. For mid-size and large rooms, the savings usually more than cover sea freight. (Internal link: Cost to build a cold room in the US)
- One supplier, one responsibility.
Panels, door, refrigeration and controls are designed together. You don’t have to match a panel supplier’s room to another company’s condensing unit.
- Engineered, not guessed.
Every kit starts with a heat load calculation based on your product, daily loading, door openings and local climate. The refrigeration unit is sized to the room, so it isn’t oversized “just in case.”
- Energy-efficient insulation.
High-density PIR panels keep heat out and cut compressor running time. That lowers your electricity bill for the life of the room.
- Fast, clean installation.
Panels arrive cut to size, numbered and ready to lock together. A small crew can typically assemble a walk-in in 1–2 days. Larger facilities take a few weeks, not months.
- Expandable and relocatable.
Modular panels can be taken apart, extended or moved to a new site. That’s ideal for growing businesses and leased buildings.
How Ordering Works
Step 1 – Send your requirements.
Tell us the inside dimensions, the target temperature, the products you’ll store, and your site location. A simple sketch or floor plan is enough.
Step 2 – Receive a technical proposal.
Our engineers calculate the heat load and send a quotation with the panel specification, refrigeration equipment, drawings and delivery terms.
Step 3 – Production.
After you approve, panels and equipment are manufactured and tested in our factory.
Step 4 – Shipping.
Your kit is packed on pallets and loaded into a container. We can combine several rooms in one container and provide the loading documents for customs clearance.
Step 5 – Installation and start-up.
Your local installer assembles the room using our drawings. Our technical team supports the installation and commissioning remotely, or on site for larger projects.

Buyer’s Checklist: What to Ask Any Cold Room Kit Supplier
Before you order, from us or anyone else, make sure the quote answers these questions:
- Panel core and density. Is it PIR or PUR? What is the density and the fire rating?
- Panel thickness. Is it right for your temperature and your climate?
- Refrigeration sizing. Was the unit sized from a heat load calculation, or picked from a size chart?
- Does it meet current U.S. EPA rules for your type of system?
- Electrical approvals. Do the components meet the requirements of your local electrical inspector (e.g., UL / ETL listed)?
- Is a floor insulation or anti-frost heating solution included for freezers?
- Does it have a heated frame (freezers) and an inside safety release?
- Does it have temperature logging and alarms, which you need for FSMA food safety records?
- What’s NOT included. Freight, duties, installation labor and electrical hookup should be clearly stated.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a cold room kit cost?
It depends on size, temperature, panel thickness and refrigeration capacity. A freezer costs more than a cooler of the same size because it needs thicker panels and a larger unit. Send us your dimensions and temperature for an exact price. For typical ranges, see our walk-in cooler cost guide.
Can I install a cold room kit myself?
Small walk-in kits can be assembled by a general contractor using our drawings. The refrigeration connection and start-up must be done by a licensed refrigeration technician. Electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician.
How long does delivery to the USA take?
The total time is production plus sea freight to your nearest port. We confirm the exact schedule in your quotation.
Do you make custom sizes?
Yes. Every kit is made to order. We can fit rooms around columns, into existing buildings, or build freestanding structures with their own roof.
Can a kit be used outdoors?
Yes. Outdoor rooms get a weather-resistant roof and a protected refrigeration unit.
Do you also supply just the panels or just the refrigeration unit?
Yes. We supply panels, doors and refrigeration units separately as well as complete kits.
